Drone footage has emerged of a huge slip in Dunedin's West Harbour area caused by the two-day dump of rain that has hit the region.
The city and other parts of eastern Otago have been lashed for the past two days by rain that has caused flooding, affected dozens of roads and for a time closed all highways into Dunedin.
One of those - State Highway 1 between Milton and Waihola - reopened this evening.
At one stage there were as many as 38 roads closed around Dunedin, including SH88 to Port Chalmers.
The Fire and Emergency New Zealand drone footage - posted by Otago Civil Defence tonight - shows the extent of a slip in the West Harbour area.
