Waiting for 'perfect person'

Domino's Mosgiel store can open in two months as long as the ''perfect franchisee'' can be found.

A site in Gordon Rd had been leased and the process of resource consent had begun, Domino's New Zealand general manager Scott Bush said.

The pizza giant Domino's Pizza is negotiating a lease for 100A Gordon Rd, in Mosgiel.

Mosgiel had been on Domino's ''wish list for a long time now'', he said.

''They still firmly have their sights set on the area. However, they are still searching for the perfect franchisee for the new store,'' he said.

''The perfect person is key in this process and the franchise is making sure they wait until that person is uncovered.''

The store would remain in the planning stage until the franchisee was decided on.

''As soon as the correct franchisee has joined the store will be open within two months due to the process already under way.''

There was interest in the position, he said.

''While the interest has been good, we haven't been able to sign the right person on just yet and are still working through the process with some great candidates.

"But until someone has been signed up, we still welcome - in fact, encourage - anyone else looking to come on board to get in touch with us.''

The $500,000 development was expected to generate up to 20 jobs, as well as work for tradesmen during construction, which was expected to take about a month.

The company is ''ready to push the button'' but can only proceed if it finds a franchisee willing to fund development.
