He and his wife, Susan Lady Satyanand, attended the school assembly when pupils gave a special stage performance.
While in Middlemarch, the couple also had lunch at the Middlemarch Community Centre with Rural Women New Zealand and the Royal New Zealand Plunket Society.
Today, the pair will attend the official opening of Otago Polytechnic's refurbished Manaaki Block, the launch of Habitat for Humanity's ReStore shop and visit the organisation's housing project in Halfway Bush.
