Dunedin City Council property services group manager Dave Bainbridge said contractors had been cleaning out spouting and rainwater sumps as part of urgent work on the exterior of the railway station.
Work began about a month ago, and the cherry picker was needed to provide safe access to the spouting and rainwater sumps.
The urgent work was now complete and the cost had been less than $10,000, Mr Bainbridge said yesterday.
