Fourth-year law student James Collins eats a cabbage on George St before embarking on a mission to arm wrestle the mayor during his last day in Dunedin yesterday.
He had lived with the same four friends since starting a university degree and they participated in a quirky challenge to mark the end of an era.
Each collected points for completing up to 40 different tasks, which included eating a cheeseburger with nine extra slices of cheese, ''jamming'' with a busker and making a short horror film to be viewed on the internet.
Mr Collins said the challenge was a commemorative scavenger hunt, of sorts.
He and his friends completed tasks with as little public disruption as possible.
He ''loved'' eating a whole cabbage and said he would consider vegetarianism.
