One car, believed to be a rental car, crashed into another at the intersection of Centre Rd and Henley/Berwick Rd about noon.
Sergeant Graeme Evans, of Dunedin, said the both drivers had minor to moderate injuries.
They were the only occupants, he said.
Sgt Evans would not speculate on the cause of the crash.
Charges against either driver would be determined once the investigation was complete, he said.
