Hall Brothers Transport owner and Dunedin city councillor Doug Hall (below left) talks to a police officer about one of his company’s trucks, which rolled while carrying an excavator in Steep Hill Rd, near the Kilmog, north of Dunedin, yesterday.
The driver was taken to Dunedin Hospital in a moderate condition, he said.
A St John spokesman said an ambulance was called to the scene about 12.05pm.

Cr Hall said the side of the road collapsed and the truck was parked when the incident happened.
A police spokeswoman said its commercial vehicle safety team was making inquiries and would speak to the driver.
