Brady said the work, part of Arts Festival Dunedin, caused some people to think twice about walking across it.
Others, particularly children, found it a good place to sit down.
The work also served as a thoroughfare between the two art exhibits in rooms on either side. Brady said she had not been sure how people would react to a work on the floor, but thought many would not be keen to step on it, as they were usually encouraged ''not to touch artworks''.
''I really encourage people to walk on it, and hope that people do. I think it provides provides a potentially different engagement with a public art space.''
