If you thought the state of politics in New Zealand was scary at the moment, you should probably head to the Naughty Christmas Horror Ball at Larnach Castle.

Organiser Doug Kamo said the event was a theatre/restaurant Christmas function for Dunedin businesses and organisations, with a Halloween or The Rocky Horror Picture Show theme.

"It’s an opportunity for work colleagues to dress up as someone or something they wouldn’t normally dress up as."

Seeing your conservative, professional, suit-wearing boss dressed up as Frank-N-Furter would be enough to scar many employees for life, he said.

"Come up to the castle to get away from the daily grind, the bureaucracy and the politics, and you’ll see some really scary stuff.

"It’ll give you some perspective, it’s very interactive and Larnach Castle will really add to the atmosphere.

"Without giving too much away, there will be some big frights from dark corners of the castle."

Aside from the costumes, there would be a three-course meal during a two-hour show, with live music, comedy and bizarre and risque interaction.

He said five "naughty" characters would circulate among the guests, improvising a series of original scenarios, banging out hits from The Rocky Horror Picture Show and other old fashion rock classics.

The annual Christmas party was so popular, this year’s event on December 16 sold out within days, he said.

So a second one was being put on, on December 15, and tickets were still available.
