Education Minister Anne Tolley has declined to attend the New Zealand Educational Institute's second public forum in Dunedin in favour of her own pre-organised meeting aimed at briefing Dunedin parents on National Standards.
The meeting on March 29 has been organised by Dunedin MP Michael Woodhouse and will explain how National Standards will help lift pupil achievement.
Mr Woodhouse said it would be a great opportunity for parents to get the facts on National Standards directly from the minister.
"It will also give parents the chance to ask questions about this ground-breaking policy."
The National Standards meeting with Mrs Tolley will be held in the Port Otago Lounge, Edgar Centre, Dunedin at 7.30pm.
