Three in custody after vehicles damaged

Three men are in custody after several vehicles were damaged in Harbour Tce, Dunedin, early yesterday, police say.

A fourth man had been bailed.

Station Sergeant Janelle Timmins, of Dunedin, said the men were facing charges including intentional damage, but as it was early in the investigation, other charges could follow.

The entering of a vehicle in the Forsyth Barr Stadium car park during the same time period was probably linked, she said.

Nothing was taken from that vehicle.

Sgt Timmins said the men arrested were not students.

Police were watching the Corstorphine area closely and people were being warned to be vigilant because of a rise in criminal activity. Sgt Timmins said a Mulford St property was entered early on Sunday and a car damaged.

Medical supplies were taken from a Waimea Ave address and a cellphone, wallet and $50 were stolen from a South Rd residence between 11pm on Saturday and 9am on Sunday.

‘‘There's a bit of a spike in the Corstorphine area, which we're a bit concerned about,'' Sgt Timmins said.

Anyone with information was asked to call Dunedin police on (03) 471-4800 or anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800-555-111.
