About 900 people dashed about on a bright Dunedin day and acquired the colours of the rainbow on their way.
The French family, of Dunedin, were among the people who left the event with their clothing in a more colourful state than at the start line.
Night 'n Day shops have supported the event for years.
Sport Otago’s Rainbow Run at Logan Park yesterday had children and adults negotiating colour stations after they had received a spray from the fire service.
The 3km run or walk raised money for Sporting Chance, which provides financial assistance to children from disadvantaged circumstances to help them take part in sport.
"It was a nice activity to do with the family," Morgan French said.
They made a fairly late call to be part of it, deciding on Friday to join in.
Marketing manager Monica Micek said the event was about fun, fitness and encouraging people to have a good day out.
Rainbow runs are due to be held next month in Clutha, Wānaka and Queenstown.
