Theft, obstruction charges follow in wake of bail count

Three 18-year-old women will appear in the Dunedin District Court next week following an incident late on Thursday.

The first woman was arrested and charged with breaching the conditions of her bail.

A second woman, believed to be a friend, was arrested immediately afterwards after the police officer was obstructed, Senior Sergeant Craig Brown, of Dunedin, said.

She was also found to be breaching bail.

While making the arrests, the officer dropped a phone, which was picked up and hidden by a third woman, Snr Sgt Brown said.

She was charged with theft and obstruction.

• A man who refused to give a blood sample after he was found asleep in his car in central Dunedin yesterday morning has had his car impounded.

The 37-year-old Dunedin man was found by police in a car parked in Rattray St at 3am.

He was charged with refusing to give a blood sample and will appear in court next Thursday.
