A 17-year-old teenager spent Monday night in police cells in her pyjamas.
The teenager, who refused a police offer of alternative clothing, has been charged with assault and resisting arrest after a domestic incident in Mosgiel early yesterday.
The teenager assaulted her brother and a responding police officer in the 12.30am incident, Senior Sergeant Tania Baron said yesterday.
"She resisted being arrested, but there were nil injuries. Alcohol was a factor."
She spent the night in police custody in her pyjamas, Snr Sgt Baron said.
"She brought a dressing gown to the station, but she couldn't wear it in the cells because it had a belt. We've got some lovely orange polar fleece tops and pants we can get them, but she said 'no'."
It was always disappointing when police were attacked while trying to resolve domestic situations, Snr Sgt Baron said.
"We have to take a zero tolerance to that sort of behaviour.
"A fair proportion of them are regretful later, but it's a bit late by then."
