More than 1000 spectators and 900 players. One thousand pies, 300 hamburgers and 400 sandwiches devoured.
And for seven teams, the ultimate glory.
The annual Taieri Schoolboy Sevens was held yesterday at Peter Johnstone Park in Mosgiel in fine, chilly conditions, with 89 teams taking part, up from 83 last year.
Taieri Rugby Football Club junior president Brent Varcoe said clubs from as far away as Upper Clutha and Owaka took part, with a few country clubs enjoying success.
The tournament started in 1962 and was as popular as ever, he said.

Under-7, Toko 35, Taieri Blue 25;
Under-8, Green Island 15, Taieri Blue 10;
Under-9, Alexandra 30, Southern 0;
Under-10, Roxburgh 20, Harbour 5;
Under-11, Green Island 34, Clutha 5;
Under-12, Kaikorai 17, Clutha 15;
Under-13, Dunedin 26, Otago Boys High School 7.
