Dunedin Mayor Dave Cull said yesterday Cr Hudson was still in a lot of pain when he visited him in the afternoon, but was cheerful, considering the circumstances.
"He was fairly bashed up," Mr Cull said.
Cr Hudson was admitted to hospital on Friday with 11 fractures in his shoulder after falling as he tried to prevent a shopping trolley hitting a vehicle.
The incident happened on Friday night, as Cr Hudson was buying food at Port Chalmers New World for a farewell event for Citibus staff.
