Supermarket chicken theft

A Dunedin woman with a hankering for pilfered poultry had her day in court after returning to the store she allegedly stole a chicken and pie from last week.

Senior Sergeant Anthony Bond said police arrested a woman in Great King St at 3pm on Tuesday after she breached her bail conditions by returning to the supermarket she had allegedly previously shoplifted from.

The 29-year-old had been caught with a stolen a chicken and pie from a New World in Dunedin last Thursday, and was told not to return to that supermarket.

The woman is due to appear in Dunedin District Court later this month. — APL
