Police are treating as suspicious a fire in a property in Dunedin on Tuesday night.
A solitary smoke alarm helped raise the alarm after the fire started in the 10-bedroom student flat in Pitt St.
One bedroom was extensively damaged in the blaze, and there is smoke damage throughout the house.
Two people were treated for smoke inhalation.
A scene guard stood outside the home yesterday, while a fire safety investigations officer surveyed the scene.
Inquiries were referred to the Dunedin CIB, which is interviewing residents of the home.
