Dunedin’s Restore Passenger Rail spokesman Bruce Mahalski said the group’s aim was to get a functioning passenger rail network happening again in New Zealand. They believed a better public transport system was an absolute must for lowering emissions.
The group did not interfere with traffic like their Wellington counterparts, but some stood in solidarity with the protesters who glued themselves to a busy road in the capital.
Mr Mahalski called for less talk and more action in creating passenger railway networks from surrounding suburbs such as Port Chalmers and Mosgiel to Dunedin.
