A car rolled on to its roof on the Dunedin Southern Motorway yesterday.
Three Mile Hill Rd is closed because of road works, so could not be used.
A police spokeswoman said they were called to the scene about 7.45am after the crash in the northbound lane near Saddle Hill Rd.
No-one was injured and traffic was diverted through Fairfield, she said.
A photographer at the scene said the vehicle came to rest on its roof and the female driver was out of the vehicle.
"She appeared shaken but unhurt."
A witness posted to social media saying the crash was caused after the woman's car struck a spare tyre which came off the vehicle in front of her.
