Dunedin Public Art gallery public liaison officer Jon Chapman leads a clanging, shaking net of noise-makers around the Octagon on Saturday.

The piece Sea System, by Rio de Janeiro collective Opavivara was marched around the central city.

The plastic net lined with ocean rubbish can be worn by a group of people and is meant to bring the excitement of a Brazilian carnival, and a message about ocean litter.

Gallery visitor programmes officer Lynda Cullen said the exhibition was about connecting strangers to create something together.
