Signal Hill leads: police

Police are following various leads after a woman was grabbed on the arm by a man in Signal Hill Rd on Monday.

The woman broke free and ran away.

Detective Senior Sergeant Malcolm Inglis, of Dunedin, said Opoho residents had provided information on the attack that was promising but police had little information on another incident in southern Dunedin on Wednesday.

A 46-year-old woman suffered a broken cheekbone after she was punched while walking to work about 4.20am near De Carle Park in St Kilda.

Her bag was stolen.

"We've had some good public support with just general information [and] we are very appreciative,'' Det Sgt Inglis said, of the Signal Hill attack.

"We're still working on the South Dunedin one. There's no great leads yet,'' he said.

Anyone with information on the two recent incidents was asked to contact Dunedin police on (03) 471-4800 or through Crimestoppers on 0800-555-111.
