Shotgun found; man charged

Police have charged a man after they recovered a sawn-off shotgun used in a Dunedin home invasion.

The Dunedin man has been charged with aggravated burglary after an incident on Thursday.

Police were called to Cockerell St, Brockville, following reports a man armed with a sawn-off firearm had entered a property demanding cash and drugs, Senior Sergeant Phil McDouall, of Dunedin, said.

The offender was later located, but not the weapon.

However, police located a firearm and other items that had been thrown out of a vehicle, and arrested the man yesterday afternoon.

More charges were likely, he said,John Nathan Boyd (34) was given a registrar's adjournment yesterday and remanded in custody until October 3.
