The new Dunedin Hospital outpatients building site is starting to take shape on the corner of St Andrew and Castle Sts.

Parts of the facade (measuring 5m x 1.2m) were built off-site and hoisted into place using a spider crane. Some of the panels are removable to allow the installation of large pieces of equipment like an MRI machine, and the addition of a future air bridge to the inpatient building on the other side of St Andrew St.

Fins are also planned to project from the building to help create shade and keep it from overheating.

The outpatient building is expected to be finished by mid-2026, and at this stage, the inpatients building is expected to be completed in 2029.
