Dunedin Police are investigating a sexual assault which happened in central Dunedin early on Sunday morning.
A woman was walking along Frederick St about 1.50am when she was assaulted by a man who had followed her on foot for some distance.
He was described as being in his late 20s and of a medium build. He had light short hair and there was stubble on his face.
A passing motorist saw the attack and yelled at the offender.
Police would like to speak with the occupants of that vehicle, and anyone else in the area at the time.
