Pamela Stephenson-Connolly's Sex Life has created so much interest among Dunedin residents that her talk next week about her latest book has had to be moved to a larger venue.

Dr Stephenson-Connolly is best known as the wife and biographer of Scottish comedian Billy Connolly, but her career as a comedienne and sex therapist means she is no shrinking violet when it comes to talking about her own successes.

Sex Life is a cradle-to-the-grave exploration of healthy attitudes to sex, and how sex can evolve as we grow and mature, she said.

The curiosity and questions that many people have are answered in the book by sharing the experiences of a diverse range of people who contributed to her research.

Ironically, the publisher of the book was initially concerned about whether Dunedin residents would turn up to the event because they were perceived to be too conservative.

But huge public demand has meant organisers have had to move the event from the Dunedin Public Library to the University of Otago College of Education auditorium in Union St.

Dunedin Public Libraries marketing co-ordinator Lynette Hartgill said 344 people had confirmed they would attend so far, and the college auditorium could accommodate 499 people.

It was expected the new venue would be filled to capacity, and Miss Hartgill said it was important people book seats, rather than just turn up at the door.

Those who had already booked seats would be contacted by Dunedin City Council customer services to notify them of the change, she said.

Dr Stephenson-Connolly will be at the auditorium next Wednesday, from 5.30pm.
