Dunedin cafe Maggies hosted its second records and Kiwiana fair yesterday.

Organiser Scott Muir said the first fair in January of this year had crowds of people lining up out the door.

He had the idea to hold a record sale with his longtime friend Leighton Jones as they both had "far too many records".

"We thought about selling them online, but we thought it would be a lot more fun doing it with like-minded people."

Dunedin man Patrick O’Neill brought along a "precious" collection of posters he had accumulated over years of working in the television and music industry.

"Most of these are Dunedin-centric too — places and bands that don’t exist any more," he said.

The sale would likely turn into a "rugby scrum", as some excited locals waited eagerly at the door before the sale had started, Mr O’Neill said.

"We got this stuff because we love it and we’ll sell it the way we love to sell it."
