Road rage victim 'linked to Killer Beez'

The victim of a road rage bashing in Dunedin yesterday is understood to be linked to the Killer Beez gang.

It has also emerged that the man absconded from Dunedin Hospital against medical advice after being taken there by ambulance.

Senior Sergeant Anthony Bond, of Dunedin, said officers were called to a collision between a black car and a silver Subaru in Riselaw Rd Calton Hill about 2.40pm yesterday.

The black car failed to give way and T-boned the Subaru, Snr Sgt Bond said.

A witness said two men got out of the Subaru, ran across the road and assaulted the driver of the black car, who had got out of his vehicle, the witness said.

Officers broke up the fight when they arrived, Snr Sgt Bond said,

Two people were taken to hospital for observation after the incident, one person from each car.

Inquiries were ongoing, Snr Sgt Bond said.

It is understood that the driver of the black car was linked to the Killer Beez gang and left hospital yesterday against medical advice.

The incident served as a reminder to act responsibly in the event of a motor vehicle collision.

‘‘You make the situation worse by confronting the other driver,’’ Snr Sgt Bond said.

Instead, people should take a moment to calm down and check themselves and their passengers for any injuries.

If there was a dispute about who was at fault, people should call police, Snr Sgt Bond said.
