The board of Maranatha Rest Home, in Mosgiel, will meet today to consider the facility's future.
Closure was one option, but the trust would consider ways to save the home, board member Richard Horne, of Mosgiel, said.
''The Maranatha Fellowship Trust board is currently reviewing all its operations at its complex at Gordon Rd, Mosgiel.''
The care residents received was ''second to none''.
The home had issues relating to ''bureaucracy'', but Mr Horne declined to elaborate until after the meeting.
Aged Care Association Otago-Southland board representative Malcolm Hendry said he could not comment on Maranatha's situation, but he expected to see more pressure on smaller facilities in future.
Losing smaller providers would put more pressure on the sector over time, because of the ageing population, he said.
Maranatha's website says the home was established in 1959 to provide a ''peaceful haven for elderly folk in their declining years''.
Maranatha's trust was made up of Christians drawn from Open Brethren Assemblies. Anyone is welcome at the home, as long as they are comfortable with its Christian character, the website says.
