After two crashes outside her house in four days, a Dunedin resident is calling for change to an intersection she says is a “ticking timebomb”.
A police spokeswoman said officers were called to the intersection of Frederick and Leith Sts about 3.25pm.
No serious injuries were reported and a tow truck was called for both vehicles.
Senior Sergeant Anthony Bond, of Dunedin, said the crash involved a 19-year-old man who failed to give way and crashed into a car driven by a 59-year-old man.
The road was blocked for about 40 minutes, Snr Sgt Bond said.
Leith St resident Christine Wongcharupan said she did not see the crash but she heard a loud noise that "got everyone's attention".
The intersection was a "ticking timebomb" which was ready to explode if things did not change.
She was worried someone might have to die before something changed.
"The later we delay, the more people are going to get hurt," Ms Wongcharupan said.
A witness said the collision was between a ute and a smaller car.
An ambulance and fire crew also attended and assisted at the scene, the witness said.
