Reports a driver drove off after hitting a child with their vehicle outside Bathgate Park School yesterday afternoon were mistaken, police say.

A police spokeswoman said yesterday soon after 3pm someone reported a child being hit on Macandrew Rd, near the Forbury school.

Today police said the driver of the car had stopped to check on the welfare of the child, who was uninjured, before speaking with police officers at the scene.

Police were no longer investigating the incident.

Yesterday a police spokeswoman said it seemed as though the car drove off afterwards.
