That problem was nothing compared with arriving at work on Saturday to discover the company's new depot, just inside the entrance to the airport, and about 35 cars hip-deep in water.
"It was an absolute disaster. We've only been in [the depot] two weeks."
Avis called the fire brigade, which attempted to pump the water out, but the area continued to fill.
"I stripped off my boots and tights and waded in. I had to get the keys. Today, I came prepared with the waders."
By yesterday, staff and volunteers had got the cars out to dry, but the rental shed was still flooded.
The airport company hoped to begin pumping the water out of the shed as soon as water levels in the nearby drain channel receded.
No other airport facilities were flooded.
