Rates look to be on the rise again, following yesterday's Dunedin City Council annual plan deliberations.
The forecast rates increase for 2010-11 climbed fractionally to 5.3%, up from the 5.2% forecast in the draft annual plan, following funding decisions by councillors at yesterday's annual plan meeting in Dunedin.
Councillors, who had already received 739 written submissions, listened to 182 speakers over 30 hours during last week's hearings.
They spent yesterday debating the Lovelock Ave realignment, rates changes for bed and breakfast owners and other key issues, before poring over an 80-page decision sheet line by line.
The council will meet again to finalise the draft annual plan on May 31.
