Green Island School pupil Ava Creasey and her friends spent their playtime on Monday in the kitchen baking raspberry, cranberry, oat and vanilla cookies for the residents at Chatsford retirement village, in Mosgiel.
Yesterday the pupils delivered the cookies to the residents.
The baking was a part of the community service portion of the William Pike Challenge, which included an outdoors challenge and a passion project as well.
Ava said the baking did come with some challenges including getting distracted by the trampoline and forgetting about the timer.
However, she said next week would make up for it because the group was planning on baking brownies for the residents.
Other groups taking part in the challenge were picking up rubbish on the beach and cleaning off graffiti for their community service.
The pupils would be hiking the Pineapple Track next week for their outdoors challenge.
