Electricity has been restored to the 4100 Dunedin customers whose power was cut after a tree fell on to high voltage lines just before midday.
Delta spokesman Gary Johnson said power was restored at 3pm in Burnside, Caversham, Concord, Abbotsford, Green Island, Sunnyvale, Fairfield, Waldronville and Ocean View.
"We thank electricity customers for their patience while we restored power."
The cause of the outage was a large tree felled on to the high voltage overhead line supplying Green Island.
Delta crews, including specialist arborists, are on site as they continue with repairs.
Permanent repairs to the damaged overhead power line are expected to be completed tomorrow.
