The $1million jetty at Boiler Point will be accessible by the end of the month and a formal public opening will be held at a later date.
Port Otago infrastructure assets manager Jon Visser said the jetty had passed welding inspections, meaning the majority of the work was complete.
The four sections of the jetty had been lifted into place in the past two weeks.
Port Otago was putting down timber decking and installing handrails, Mr Visser said.
He said further work undertaken on the jetty included installation of public amenities such as lighting, seating and a life preserver, to help people fish from the jetty safely.
"We will also be improving the Boiler Point access track."

Great news for all who like fishing! Don't forget to take the kids, the skills they learn in regard to tides, weather, ecology and patience, cannot be better demonstrated than when fishing. Makes me want to take up fishing again!
