The Berwick Pool has become a community hub, especially during hot summers such as this year's.
Berwick Pool Trust chairwoman Alex Morton said the warm weather this year had seen interest in the pool increase.
About 50 families had purchased a key to the pool - the only way of gaining entry - this year.
''We get people coming from not just Berwick but Momona and Outram,'' she said.
''There are people who are coming quite a long way.''
The pool was built in 1964 and was part of Berwick School.
It was not covered or heated originally. Those features were added in 1984 after fundraising efforts by the community.
When Berwick School merged with Henley School in 1997, the community decided to buy the facility for the betterment of the community.
''It is a community-run pool,'' Ms Morton said.
''We bought it with the sale of an old hall and we have been running it ever since.
''It only happens because people put the effort in.
''It's definitely a community pool and it's successful because of it - because people care.''
The pool also featured a barbecue and playground area and had become a community hub during the summer months.
As it was solar-heated it was only open while sunlight was abundant.
''It's open from early November to the end of March,'' she said.
''It's solar-heated so if there's no sun it's not hot enough to open, so we go with the weather.''
The number of users had remained steady throughout the years with about 40 families buying a key most years.
This year had been a bumper season for the pool because of the weather, she said.
The trust intended to paint the pool at the end of this season and was ''always working on it''.
A market day was planned for next season to raise funds to help with its maintenance and improvement, but no dates had been set, she said.
''We are always working on it - it's a never-ending project,'' Ms Morton said.
To see the community's passion for the pool was heartening.
''It's not just gratifying - we are very proud of our efforts.''
