Police have recovered two firearms stolen from a Halfway Bush address on Monday.
Acting Senior Sergeant Phill Hamlin said police executed a search warrant in Dunedin on Tuesday and recovered the two rifles stolen from the Three Mile Hill Rd house.
It is understood the theft is not related to the earlier theft of 28 firearms from a Maitland St address.
The two rifles taken from Halfway Bush had no bolts or ammunition and were stored correctly, Acting Snr Sgt Hamlin said.
A laptop was also stolen.
A police spokeswoman said the burglar was seen climbing out of the front window of the address and running to a waiting vehicle.
''Quick investigation work by police saw the laptop and two rifles located in a search at a Dunedin address on Tuesday afternoon,'' she said.
''Police are now following positive lines of inquiry to locate the offenders.''
