A Fire Service spokesman said firefighters from Mosgiel Station were called to Mosgiel Memorial Park, near Mosgiel Library, just after 11pm.
The fire was being treated as suspicious, he said.
A spokeswoman said police were called at 11.15pm, and were continuing their investigation this morning.
