A police spokeswoman said police were called to the crash in Kew just before 9am.
Police inquiries were continuing, the spokeswoman said. St John spokesman Ian Henderson said a man, aged in his 40s, suffered moderate injuries and was taken by ambulance to Dunedin Hospital.
