Plan to feature artists on buses

A Dunedin art gallery is raising bus money.

Margaret Freeman Gallery and Studio2 - a working gallery in Moray Pl for disabled artists - are raising funds for the travelling exhibition On the Buses.

Studio facilitator Sara McKegg said the exhibition would put artwork of about 30 disabled Dunedin artists on the back of buses during the Dunedin Fringe Festival in March next year.

''Instead of looking at advertisements on the back of the buses, Dunedin drivers and pedestrians will be able to look at large-scale digital versions of works of art created by Studio2 artists.''

A single bus display cost $2000 and, ideally, the exhibit would include up to four buses, she said. More than $1000 had been raised and donations could be made at www.boosted.org.nz//projects/on-the-buses.
