Dunedin photographer Carlos Biggemann has just won the People's Choice award, one of two major awards, at an international photography competition in London with this work, titled Autumn Leaves in Arrowtown.

The Down's Syndrome Association's (DSA) international photographic competition which he entered was titled ''My Perspective 2019''.

Mr Biggemann (28) and his mother, Alicia, travelled to Britain for the special awards evening in London this week and received the award from DSA patron and Dr Who actor Peter Davison.

Originally from Bolivia, Mr Biggemann was ''stunned'' by the win, which was ''just so amazing'', and said he had earlier travelled for four hours to take the photograph.

''I love how the contrast and the mixture of beautiful colours can represent the season of autumn,'' he said.

He also wanted to ''take more beautiful pictures so I can send more positivity through photos''.
