Club secretary and party co-organiser Steve Marshall, of Middlemarch, said the party coincided with a visit to the town by a Dj-class locomotive.
The train was making a return trip from Dunedin to Middlemarch as part of a celebration of 50 years of operation of Dj-class locomotives.
The locomotive, along with Di and Dg-class locomotives, would arrive in Middlemarch about noon.
The three locomotives would then make the trip from Middlemarch to Pukerangi, before heading back to Dunedin about 5.15pm.
The street party would include a shearing demonstration and country music band The Rock and Pillar Rebels to ``keep people entertained''.
Other attractions included a chocolate wheel, craft stalls and a barbecue.
A highlight of a similar street party a few years ago was a spur-of-the-moment decision by a farmer to move a flock of sheep from one end of the party to the other.
"He had a pen of sheep down the wrong end of the street and he got brassed off and drove them down the main street through the people. The Americans just loved it - they thought it was bloody awesome.''
"It's be mainly burgers - different varieties - and they are pretty special.''
People were welcome to sell items free of charge at a car boot sale.
The money the club raised from the party would be "put back in the community''.
