After having her wish come true, Dunedin girl Paige Hughes and her family were more than happy to label a few sweets in preparation for the Jaffa Race on July 22.
Paige, who is in remission after suffering from leukaemia, and her family spent Saturday morning labelling Jaffas at Toitu Otago Settlers Museum to raise money for Make-A-Wish after the charity arranged a trip to the Gold Coast for them in May.
Her mother, Sally Hughes, said they were happy to help after the trip gave the family a chance "just to be able to have some fun'' after some difficult times.
"We appreciate all their support and we just like giving back.''
The trip was especially meaningful because it was a celebration of Paige having finished her treatment last November and the fact the family had to cancel a trip to Australia when she was diagnosed.
Since finishing her treatment, Paige had returned four blood tests free of leukemia and there was a 95% chance the cancer was gone for good.
Paige, who is one of three Child Cancer ambassadors in New Zealand, said her favourite part of the trip was getting to pat a dolphin at Sea World.
She was also looking forward to pulling the lever to release 25,000 Jaffas down Baldwin St as part of the Cadbury Carnival.
Make-A-Wish event and community funding co-ordinator Jordan Milligan said the $25,000 the charity raised in the race allowed it to fund five wishes.
