Youth volunteer co-ordinator Jess Holmes said the organisation would run week-long programmes for 100 children, aged 11-17, in December and January.
Responding to requests, the organisation had run programmes in the past for smaller groups of children, but Ministry of Social Development funding of $100 a child allowed it to expand.
The free programme would provide a fulfilling and fun way for children to spend some of their holiday, she said.
"The idea is that no matter what your background, you give back to your community and learn new skills and gain new skills," she said.
Bases will be set up in Port Chalmers, Northeast Valley and South Dunedin and children will do anything from baking for the city's foodbanks to walking dogs for the SPCA.
