HMNZS Wellington is in Otago waters for a weekend visit.

The ship anchored off Warrington, north of Dunedin, yesterday and will leave Dunedin on Monday.

A New Zealand Defence Force spokesman said the stopover was to restock supplies and give crew a break.

The vessel was patrolling New Zealand's coastline,

supporting the Ministry of Primary Industries to protect fishing resources.

'The ship has covered a significant portion of New Zealand's water on this patrol and will continue to do so on leaving Dunedin."
