'ODT' finalist in four Pacific newspaper award categories

The Otago Daily Times is a finalist in four categories, including the prestigious newspaper of the year section, at the Pacific Area Newspaper Publishers Association's 2010 Newspaper of the Year awards in Sydney later this month.

The awards have attracted more than 600 entries from newspapers in Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, Singapore, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Malaysia.

The finalists, announced in Sydney yesterday, were judged by 53 international media and marketing professionals.

The ODT is a finalist for newspaper of the year in the 25,000 to 90,000 circulation category, while the newspaper's Class Act/Extra! entry is again a finalist in the young readers section.

The ODT also features in the technical excellence awards.

It is a finalist in the single-width press category and has two entries (ad maker and digital tearsheets) nominated in the innovation in pre-production processes or technology awards.

The winners will be announced on August 26.
