No let-up in burglaries

Three chainsaws were stolen from a High St property in Dunedin on Sunday in one of several burglaries reported to police this week, continuing a run of burglaries and break-ins in the city.

A woman who works at the property, who asked to remain anonymous, said the chainsaws were taken during the day.

Senior Sergeant Trevor Thomson, of Dunedin, said ``a wee bit happened over the weekend''.

A car was broken into in Prince Albert Rd on Saturday night. Nothing was taken.

A trailer was taken from Springfield Rd, Milton, on Friday.

Also on Friday, between 6am and 1pm, a Toyota Landcruiser was taken from Brighton Rd and dropped off at a commercial yard in Kaikorai Valley Rd, which Snr Sgt Thomson believed to be a car wreckers yard.

The owner of the vehicle believed some tools might have been taken.

Between May 14 and 18, a house in Ravenswood Rd was entered after a window at the back of the house was smashed with a brick.

Over the weekend in Barnego Rd in Balclutha, a sliding door to a container at a property was taken off its rollers. Two tool-kits and a welder were taken.

Overnight Thursday in Edinburgh Pl, Balclutha, a Steelcraft pram worth $700 was taken.
