The pool has been undergoing work for two years as part of the Dunedin City Council’s 10-year plan.
A council spokesman said the spring board at the diving pool was closed to swimmers on Tuesday as scaffolding went up as part of strengthening and recladding improvements.
The pool would be drained to enable the removal of redundant pipes from the pool floor.
A digger was on site to demolish a boundary wall and create access for trucks, which would be removing bricks from the west wall, the spokesman said.
There would be reduced parking in the back car park until tomorrow, because of increased truck traffic.
New accessible changing rooms and hydroslides were also being added as part of the project.
