New theatre company, Stageworks, for city

A new theatre company will soon be treading the boards of some of Dunedin's grandest theatres.

Stageworks Otago was born out of a desire by a group of veteran local actors to produce quality adult theatre, chairman Bert Nisbet said.

The group has already secured the first amateur rights in New Zealand to The Mousetrap, which will be performed in September at the Mayfair Theatre.

A production was also planned for the Playhouse Theatre in July and August, he said.

The Stageworks Otago executive includes Natalie Ellis Wilson (patron), Bert Nisbet (chairman), and Rosemary Richards (secretary).
